After taking time off to raise children, returning to the workplace can be a rocky transition. But now that the kids are back in school, it’s a great time for parents to start thinking about picking up their careers again. This Tuesday at 10am, New York Family’s career blogger, Barri Waltcher, is hosting a workshop to help mothers redefine themselves as working professionals.
Hosted by Mind Your Own Business: Moms, a company Waltcher co-founded that helps moms with work-life transitions, the seminar will show you how to chart your course from mom to manager. Learn about everything from defining career objectives and developing a mission statement to refreshing work skills and overcoming career transition challenges. Also on the agenda are an overview of the current job market, smart volunteering, social media, and networking.
More about Waltcher: This mom is a career advisor who works with women of all ages, from expectant mothers to empty nesters, to reintroduce them into the workforce. Her interest in this field developed after the birth of her second child, when she and many of her peers found themselves unsure of how to return to work.
