Weekend Planner: March 29-31

It’s back to school next week–which means families should definitely take advantage of all the exciting happenings this weekend and squeeze in all the fun you can before spring break ends. Luckily for you, we have a ton of suggestions for all ages, from a hilarious pet comedy circus show to the newly opened Legoland Discovery Center (in Westchester) to a ton of Easter-themed fun all over the city. Enjoy!

 

 STARTING FRIDAY

It’s Kids Week in NYC’s parks for one more day only. Eco-minded crafts, movies under the stars, and games that get you moving–all right here. (Friday)

Brooklyn’s Scrap Kins show kids how to go green by building a “recycle-saurus” and let parents relax with complimentary coffee. Invite the whole family! (Friday & Saturday)

Celebrate the centennial birthday of one of America’s oldest skyscrapers, the Woolworth Building, with special tours and events at the Skycraper Museum. Dive in! (Friday-Sunday)

Last chance to laugh with Bello, the clown with a Ringling Bros pedigree and daring stunt troupe unlike any other, at the New Victory Theater. Don’t miss out! (Friday-Sunday)

At Grand Central, a herd of 30 shaggy, life-size horses take over the terminal and “graze” in Nick Cave’s funky installation. Woah there. (Friday-Sunday)

 

STARTING SATURDAY

Rolie Polie Guacamole gets kids on their feet and singing along to a blend of funk, rock, and folk tunes about healthy living. Ready to jam? (Saturday)

Head over to Jamaica, Queens to take part in the largest Easter event in NYC! There will be ponies, live performances, games, and more–what’s not to love? (Saturday)

A pet comedy circus show approved by Jay Leno and David Letterman? It’s Gregory Popovich and his 30 rescue performers now at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center! Get ready to laugh. (Saturday)

Peter Rabbit is making a live appearance at The Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s reading of Mr. McGregor’s Garden, complete with arts and crafts. Hop on over! (Saturday & Sunday)

Get into the Easter spirit at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, where egg collaging, egg designing, and a museum-wide egg hunt await. So eggciting. (Saturday & Sunday)

 

SUNDAY

Children’s Museum of the Arts taps into its hipstery side with ‘Stache Creations, where everyone can create wacky expressions with felt, paper, and other recycle materials. We’re tickled! (Sunday)

For the liveliest, campiest, and most interesting Easter ever, head over to the NYC Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival starting in Midtown East. Here’s the best viewing spot. (Sunday)
