Ever
wish you and the fam could dine at four of BK’s best (and trendiest) eateries
in one day? Well, you will get the chance on Friday, August 26 through Sunday,
August 28 when you attend the Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s Taste of Brooklyn Weekend!

Food Glorious Food

During
Taste of Brooklyn Weekend!, with the price of museum admission ($7.50 per person, pre-registration
is required for all chef-led demos by August 22), families will have the
opportunity to sample some of the area’s most delicious eats. Chef Pierre
Thiam, restaurateur and author of Yolele!
Recipes from the Heart of Senegal
, will serve up his famous African pastels
and Colette Burnett, owner of Super Wings NY, will provide her fingerlickin’
award-winning wings. If you feel like something refreshing, Organic Soul Chef
Madea Allen Gueye will be on hand to dish up her mouthwatering salads. For
dessert, Master Baker Don Paco Lopez Jr., owner of Don Paco Lopez Panaderia,
will offer a taste of his famed cakes.

The W.O.R.D. On The
Street

On
Friday afternoon, in addition to the yummy food, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum
will host W.O.R.D. UP! Words of Real
Distinction
, a program dedicated to literacy and the power of reading. This
year, Master Baker Don Paco Lopez Jr. will read his children’s book, A Day at Grandpa’s Bakery. Children of
all ages will enjoy this story of two brothers who love to visit their
grandfather’s bakery. In the end, your tots will learn that baking can be fun
and family is number one!

-Make
your own soda during the Chase Wonder Why Workshop: Scrumptious Soda. (Friday)

-Discover
the lassi, India’s version of a
smoothie, during the Thirst-Quenchers! Luscious Lassi demo. (Saturday-Sunday)

-Whip
up (and then eat!) your own batch of hummus, the popular Middle Eastern dip,
during Putting the “mm” in Hummus. (Saturday-Sunday)

-Throughout
the weekend, kids can participate in art projects, learn about live animals,
and listen to stories.

Adventuring Portal

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids. There are so many benefits to playing D&D and I hope you will consider us as a great way for your child to safely socialize, grow as people and have a great time.</p>
