Get crafty this week with a free trial class at Babies “R” Us in Union Square and the special kick-off to Children’s Museum of Manhattan’s Makers’ Festival! The fun continues with a unique shadow puppet play set in Ancient Japan and a trendy disco party just for kids. Finally, don’t miss a hint of Easter with the Bartow Pell Mansion’s annual egg hunt!

Trial Craft Studio Classes for Mom
Babies “R” Us in Union Square
10am-2pm
This free trial event at Babies “R” Us features two classes: Mommy And Me Crafty Kids Class and Crafting For Trendy New Moms. The first class at 10am is for children ages 2-5 and allows participants to explore their creativity through the use of several different mediums from painting to sculpting to gluing. In the second class at 12pm, moms can bring their newborn and try out all those crafts on Pinterest they’ve always wanted to do. Free

Saturday, April 12 & Sunday, April 13

The Cat Who Went To Heaven
BAM Fisher
11am & 3pm
Adapted from the award-winning children’s book by Elizabeth Coatsworth, “The Cat Who Went To Heaven” is a beautiful play featuring bunraku, shadow puppetry, and jazz music. Kids will love learning about traditional Japanese culture in this musical about an artist and his loyal cat. $12

Your kiddos can meet scientists, engineers, and artists at the Makers’ Festival, an event all about celebrating STEM education. Presented by the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, the 11-day occasion occurs over spring break and includes special hands-on workshops and demonstrations like paintball portraits, hybrid musical instruments, recycled fashion, alchemical tech, and more! Free with admission.

Sunday, April 13

Baby Loves Disco

Put on your little one’s dancing shoes and check out Baby Loves Disco, an innovative party perfect for children! This hip event transforms a night club into a kid-proof area, then fills it with bumping music, fun toys, and great snacks for an unforgettable, unique experience. $20

Get your fill of Easter fun with this annual egg hunt at Bartow Pell Mansion Museum! Children ages 2-12 will get the chance to search for eggs, do arts and crafts, enjoy light refreshments, and even take their picture with the Easter bunny! BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket!) $12

Polaris Productions Theater Camp

<p>Kids will learn, rehearse, and perform the wonderful Maurice Sendak and Carole King musical, Really Rosie. For 10 weekdays, campers will take part in physical and vocal warm-ups and learn choreography, staging, and vocal parts. They’ll develop skills in acting, singing, character development, and more. This camp will ignite your child’s imagination and passion for performing, build their self-esteem, and help them form lasting friendships. They’ll have fun! At camp’s end, the kids will perform Really Rosie for family members and friends. Kids of all levels of experience, ages 8 through 13, are welcome to join.</p>
