Braced-Lets Bracelets
Pam Hirsch
Sometimes I'm looking for that next great find for my blog (and let's face it, for myself), and other days it just falls into my lap. This item was the "fell into the lap" category. My friend and I needed a birthday present for our friend's daughter. We were searching all over and wound up running into "me n. u." -- a relatively new store on the Upper East Side, heaven on earth for tween girls. And there was my next blog. These Braced-Lets are truly clever and adorable. For a parent who has a child with braces, it was one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. Literally made from the colorful plastic and brackets orthodontists use, they come in a variety of bright and neon colors, for boys and girs alike. Wear one or a bunch together. If you buy six or more, they give you an actual retainer case as your jewelry box. They were such a hit that my daughters and I went back to the store that day to pick up some more. They have become my ten year old daughter's favorite gift to give. $5 per bracelet. Cheap yet chic--gotta love that. Available at "me. n.u." (1042 Lexington Ave., 646-370-6449), and online at http://www.bracedlets.com/.
