Give Me A Break!

Fun Winter Break Camps For Kids

It’s mid-winter school break time again—do you know what your kids are doing next week? Lucky for us (and especially for our kids), activity centers, sports facilities, museums and other family-friendly spots across the city are offering fun winter break camps for kids, and some still have openings! Check out our list of winter break camps here (and if you’re a vendor hosting a camp, we’ll be happy to add you to the list--just email kmain@manhattanmedia.com with all the info).

Jodi's Gym
A fun, active way to enjoy your time off from school! Campers will enjoy gymnastics, music, art, games and storytime.

Klub4Kidz
K4K is offering a fun filled mini-camp for winter break! Children will spend their vacation in K4K's new, bright modern facility, playing in an indoor maze of crawling tubes, slides and tunnels. Campers will engage in a variety of activities; art projects, story time, games, dance parties and more. The camp is open to kids ages 4 and up. Super Soccer Stars
Kids will stay actively engaged with Super Soccer Stars’ Mini Camps and Advanced Skills Development Clinics!

*The 2.5-hour Mini Camps for ages 2.5 – 5 yrs feature time for soccer, arts & crafts, and snack.
*The 4-hour Advanced Skills Development Clinics for ages 6-9 feature skill-building drills and friendly game play that will take your child’s skills to the next level.
*Mini Camps & Clinics will be offered Presidents Day (2/21) and February Break (2/22 – 2/25).

Asphalt Green
Five full days of fun! AG's active mini-camp features a variety of recreational activities suitable for children of all ability levels. Campers that like sports, swimming, having fun, and learning new skills will have a terrific time! Art, baseball, basketball, music, flag football, gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, swimming and yoga are some of the recreational activities AG Mini-Camps offer. Programs are taught by qualified specialists in their respective fields, many of whom who teach year-round at Asphalt Green. Ages 4-12.

Children’s Museum of the Arts
Drawing & Painting with Jen Spatz: February 21-25
Have fun learning the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Young artists will enhance their abilities to represent the real and to express the imaginary. Lessons will illuminate core art ideas such as proportion, perspective and color theory. 10 a.m.--4 p.m. (supervised playtime 9-10 a.m. and 4-5 p.m.). New York City Police Museum
The NYC Police Museum has programs for the whole family next week, as well as a midwinter recess drop-off program for kids:

At the Junior Police Academy Mid-Winter Recess camp, every day is different! Learn about policing in the city through exploring the museum's different exhibits.

Taste Buds
Join taste Buds for this one-week camp and you'll cook up some yummy sweet and savory recipes, explore a variety of cooking techniques and discover new flavors every day! Learn how to knead dough, measure ingredients, and chop like a pro while making new friends along the way. From gooey mac 'n cheese to warm pumpkin bread, you'll beat the chill outside by cooking with friends inside!
Younger kids will focus on kitchen basics like kitchen etiquette, mixing and measuring while our older class will learn more independence in the kitchen and advanced techniques. Older kids are welcome to join the younger kids camp as "Counselors in Training"--call for details. Single session and partial week registrations are available. Intrepid Museum’s SOSI Camp
School’s Out, Ship’s In! Is there a better way to spend your days out of school than aboard the coolest ship in town?

*Join the Intrepid Museum for Camp SOSI--a full-day drop-off program for students ages 5-13. 92nd Street Y
92Y offers mini-camps for children in grades K-6, with staff from 92Y’s NOAR after school program and 92nd Street Y Camps' counselors and supervisors. Programs include a well-balanced menu of trips, including snow-tubing on Shawnee Mountain, sports at Chelsea Piers, IMAX & Space Show at the American Museum of Natural History, and many more. The day also includes a number of fun activities at 92Y including art, sports, cooking and swimming.

The Guggenheim Museum
Budding art connoisseurs will love the Midwinter Break Camp at the
Guggenheim Museum, where 8-11 year olds will work on their creative skills through exploring the Guggenheim’s galleries and hands-on activities. February 21–25, 9:30 am4 pm. $500 ($400 for members), which includes all art materials, snacks, a family pass, and photos documenting the program. For more info, click here.

The Children's Museum of Manhattan
Over the course of three days, CMOM will host a celebration of U.S. Presidents and First Ladies, with a special focus on the First Amendment, as part of their "Raising Citizens" program celebrating Amrerican holidays and inspiring civic responsibility. Among other activities, kids can take part in a museum-wide hunt for CMOM staff dressed as select Presidents and First Ladies, and an art project that focuses on freedom of speech by creating campaign buttons about an issue important to each child.

New York Botanical Garden
At "Tropical Treats: Chocolate, Vanilla and Spice," kids can discover the plants behind their favorite flavors! During Presidents Week, the NYBG is offering kid-friendly programming in the Everett Children's Adventure Garden and throughout the property.
