What parent doesn’t love finding out the innermost thoughts of another mom or dad? The joys and challenges of raising kids in the city, the successes and setbacks, the hilarious quips and poignant confessions, the deeply personal revelations and loud, proud proclamations. It’s the stuff that makes so many mom blogs highly readable and increasingly popular. And it’s why we’re always hard at work finding NYC parents who have a unique perspective or insightful ideas to share with our readers.
One of our favorites is on our Parenting In Progress blog. Lani Serota is mom to two young girls, besotted wife, sleep aficionado (both her own and that of children), and celebrity baby name enthusiast who loves a good giggle. The working mom likes to procrastinate, but she loves to write.
Whether she’s divulging her favorite ways to savor the goofy side of parenting, sharing her reasons for keeping her life (and her closet) open for examination by her kids, or simply ruminating on the choice to stay in NYC as opposed to heading for the suburbs, Lani captures some of the commonalities as well as the quirks of modern-day parenting in Manhattan.
We love her casual voice and her sharp perspective, and we think you’ll appreciate her work as well. Read Lani’s posts here.
