Louder Than A Bomb

Finding your voice–at any age really–is not an easy feat. And being able to craft that voice into smooth (and sometimes loud) stylings…well, that’s an entirely different story. —

It is my poetic pleasure to introduce you to Louder Than A Bomb. Set in 2008, LTAB is a moving documentary that follows four Chicago-area teams, and a few of their bright stars (I’m partial to big-grinned, long-haired, extremely lovable Adam) as they prepare for the nation’s largest spoken word, or poetry slam, competition (aptly named “Louder Than A Bomb.”) The energy is high, the emotion is raw, and the poetry is h-o-t! Need I say more?

If you already have a wordsmith at home (teens especially), then this culture pick is a no-brainer. Trust me. It’s a genuine film experience that you’ll want to repeat–if for no other reason then to see the rhythmic wheels spinning in our nation’s youth.

Though in its last two nights at the IFC Film Center, LTAB was recently picked up by the OWN Network–so be sure to keep your eyes (and definitely ears) peeled for it on the tele.

Catch “Louder Than A Bomb” at IFC Film Center on its last two nights, Wednesday May 25 and Thursday May 26 at 323 Sixth Avenue at West Third Street. To learn more about the film, see here.
