Our friends at the New York City Dads Group are hosting two upcoming events about masculinity and fatherhood that you won’t want to miss on Wednesday, May 27, and Tuesday, June 2.
First–on Wednesday, May 27, along with the PS/IS 276 PTA and the Hudson River Park Mothers Group , they are co-sponsoring a screening of “The Mask You Live In,” a documentary from the Representation Project that follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while navigating American ideals of masculinity.
A must-see for parents of boys, the film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by our editor, Eric Messinger, and featuring Nico Victorino, Assistant Principal and Middle School Director at PS/IS 276; Mark Greene, Executive Editor of The Good Men Project and author of Remaking Manhood; and Dr. Saliha Bava, a couples and family therapist in private practice in Manhattan and an associate professor at Mercy College.

On Tuesday, June 2, NYC Dads Group co-founder Matt Schneider will interview CNN reporter, author, and journalist Josh Levs about his new book, All In: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses—and How We Can Fix It Together, at the 92Y as part of the Parenting Center series on fatherhood.
The talk, “All In: How Being an Engaged Father is Good for Business, Family and Everyone” will start at 6:30pm in the Weill Art Gallery. Tickets start at $20. To purchase tickets, click HERE.
