There’s plenty of great tennis programs in the city for kids, including free ones from the City Parks Foundation and the New York Junior Tennis League, and many others (that aren’t free)–click here for a full list of our favorites. Want some star-studded instruction? Tennis champ John McEnroe has opened a tennis academy for serious junior players opening in September at Sportime at Randall’s Island. Meanwhile, parents who want to plant the seed of tennis inspiration should consider going to Sportime this summer for World Team Tennis, to see McEnroe and other tennis pros (like Andy Roddick and Serena Williams) face off.
