These two interconnected exhibits at the Museum of Chinese in America explore the history of Asian Americans in the world of American comic books. In “Marvels and Monsters: Unmasking Asian Images in U.S. Comics, 1942-1986,” museum-goers can chart how Asian Americans were portrayed through four decades of American comics.
“Alt. Comics: Asian American Artists Reinvent the Comic Book” showcases present day Asian American alternative and independent comic book artists who are creating new and more accurate representations of Asian Americans in this genre.
