Central Park’s Arsenal Gallery will be showcasing Notched Bodies: Insects in Contemporary Art beginning September 13th and continuing weekdays through mid-November. Through various art mediums (think videos, faux books and records, paintings), eleven current artists will be examining the importance of the insect and its “notched” body–so labelled by Greek philosopher Aristotle. The exhibition will be a wonderful learning experience for the kids who love creepy crawlies to understand the value of insects in our ecosystem. Grown-ups are sure to discover a thing or two as well and be exposed to a cool art show to boot! 9am-5pm weekdays, nycgovparks.org.
