Editor’s Note: A Change In The Weather

On-set with Megan Boone. Photo by Sarah Merians Photography

If you’re reading this, chances are that you’ve already felt it: That subtle change in the air that manifests on the day after Labor Day whether or not the actual temperature outside has dropped yet. It’s officially back-to-school time. No matter your age, it’s never easy to say goodbye to the long days of summer, so in that spirit, we’re hoping to ease the transition to autumn with some great seasonal content that’s sure to make it easier to swap your swimwear with your sweaters!

Speaking of sweaters (ones for your kiddos, that is), you’ll be ready to dive right into fall with our fashion-forward Style Syllabus (aka: The coolest school clothes and shoes). And if that has you feeling scholarly, we also have our annual guide to kids’ classes and enrichment programs and part two of our private school admissions playbook.

On a separate note, the change in the weather doesn’t just apply to shift in the seasons—every year it feels like the effects of climate change are more and more palpable (especially at the junctures when we expect a cold snap that seems to never come), and issues of environmental protection become of greater and greater importance. Which is why we’re so honored to have actress, mother, and environmental activist Megan Boone on our cover this fall. You may know her as one of the stars of NBC’s long-running drama “The Blacklist,” but she’s also a thoughtful and passionate mother who recently launched a great fundraising initiative to benefit our planet. Read our inspiring interview with her here.

Finally, would it really be a September/October publication with no mention of Halloween? Mark your calendar for the spookiest Halloween happenings in NYC and try your hand at some creepy craft projects.

Happy Fall!
