Celebrating You

As a new mom, you probably have little free time for yourself. Even the free time you do have may be spent on baby-centered activities (like shopping for cute baby clothes.) But today, of all days, you should be able to carve out an hour or two of time to focus on just you! Here are 5 things you can do to celebrate all the hard work you’ve put into being a great mom this year.

Get pampered. Go for a massage, a pedicure, some new highlights…whatever will make you look and feel great.

Record your memories. If you’ve been slow to make a baby journal or jot down all your memories from the first year or two of parenthood, now’s as good a time as any to start. You don’t have to focus on just baby milestones either–make your project about your life as a mom and the joys and challenges you’ve faced thus far. Create a selective scrap book filled with your favorite pictures and a line under each one about your memory of that moment. Or, start a written journal. If the idea of filling up pages and pages is overwhelming, try this “Mom’s One Line A Day” journal that covers five years in just one tiny book!

Have a moms party. Round up your mom friends and celebrate with just the ladies. Go for a night out with drinks and/or dinner. Or, have an afternoon get together. Spa parties are popular–arrange to have someone come to your apartment and do manicures and facials over cocktails.

Relax. Miss all the “me time” you had pre-baby? Take a bit of quiet time away from your partner and baby and relax. Go for a long walk, head to a cafe for a latte, read a novel over lunch, or go shopping. When you get back home you will feel totally rejuvenated!

Sleep in. When’s the last time you didn’t get up with the baby? Whether it was just yesterday or never…today you deserve to stay in bed as long as you like. Take advantage!
