A New Cookbook And Contest For Kids

Whether it’s
homemade meatballs, my grandmother’s cinnamon pie crust, or my mother’s walnut coffee
cake, the smell of cooking these favorite childhood recipes immediately
transports me back to happy family celebrations. How nice would it be to pass
on these delicious family meals to your kids while also teaching them how to
cook?—

That’s the idea
behind a new illustrated children’s cookbook, the latest in the iParenting
Media Award-winning Loukoumi children’s book series by Nick Katsoris, which was
put together in collaboration with celebrity chef Cat Cora. Loukoumi’s Celebrity Cookbook features
favorite childhood recipes of over 50 celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey’s
Corn Fritters, Ellen DeGeneres’ Vegan Sliders, Rachael Ray’s French Toast Cups,
Reese Witherspoon’s Cowboy Cookies, and more from Nicole Kidman, Neil Patrick
Harris, Faith Hill and others. Best of all, a minimum of $2 from the sale of
each book will be donated to Chefs for Humanity and St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital, which goes to helping to treat hunger and help children with
life-threatening illnesses.

In this story, Loukoumi (a very lovable lamb) and her group
of animal friends get a lesson in baking from Fistiki the cat’s Aunt Cat Cora
(a character based on the celebrity chef) as they make her favorite childhood dish—Grandma’s
Special Cream Cheese Cake. The featured recipes are also broken into categories
for an easy reference for parents looking for Weekend Breakfasts, Lunchtime
Favorites, After-School Snacks, Family Meals and Delicious Desserts.

Does your child love to cook? Enter Loukoumi’s Secret
Ingredient Recipe Contest
for the opportunity to
cook a favorite dish alongside Chef Cat Cora! Children ages 4-12 must
submit their favorite childhood recipe from November 1 through March 1. They
are asked to complete the statement: “(Recipe Name) is my favorite
childhood recipe because… (in 10 words or less).”

Loukoumi’s Celebrity Cookbook retails for $19.95. For more
details on the book or the contest, visit Loukoumi.com.
